Ingredients:
For steak
- 1 piece New York strip steak, about 1 lb (0.5 kg);
- 3 eggs;
- 2 tablespoons flour;
- 1 tablespoon safflower oil;
- Sea salt.
For red wine sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon safflower oil;
- 1/4 cup Liquid Amino (a healthier version of soy sauce can be find in health food store or upscale supermarket);;
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce;
- 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce;
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) red wine.
For thickening sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch;
- 1/2 teaspoon cane sugar;
- 1/4 (60 ml) cup water.

For steak
- Clean the steak, pat dry;
- Add sea salt;
- Beat 3 eggs and add flour;
- Coat the steak with egg mixture;
- Add safflower oil to a large sauté pan over medium high heat;
- Place the steak in when the pan gets hot;
- Cook each side for 2 minutes;
- Put the whole pan in a 400˚F (200˚C) pre-heated oven for 5 minutes;
- Take out the steak, rest for 5-10 minutes before cutting into 1/2” thick slices at 30˚ angle.
For red wine sauce
- Add 1/2 tablespoon safflower oil to the sauté pan over medium high heat;
- Pour red wine sauce mixture, except red wine, when it gets hot;
- Add red wine, pull away from flame;
- Add thickening sauce, make sure it is well-mixed;
- When it comes back to a boil, pour on top of steak.
