Ingredients:
- 1/2 sweet onion, diced, about 1/2 cup;
- 1 teaspoon vegetable/canola oil;
4 oz (125 g) cream cheese;
- 4 tablespoons sour cream;
- Half and half if sour cream is too thick;
- 4 oz (125 g) cooked crab meat;
- 1/2 cup coarsely grated New Zealand cheddar, any easy melting cheese will do;
- Sea salt;
- Crackers or chips.
Recipe:
- Add 1 teaspoon vegetable/canola oil in a sauce pan over medium heat;
- Sauté diced onion until soft but not brown;
- Pre-heat oven to 350˚F (175˚C);
- Fold sour cream in with cream cheese in a mxing bowl;
- Add half and half if needed;
- Turn off stove, add cream cheese mixture to sauté onion;
- Transfer in a baking pan and cover;
- Place in pre-heat oven for 25 minutes;
- Top with New Zealand cheddar and put back in the oven for 5-10 minutes, not cover;
- Place crackers or chips around;
- Serve hot after it cool down for 5-10 minutes.
