Ingredients:
For flank steak
- 1 piece flank steak, about 4 oz (125 g);
1 tablespoon medium fine black pepper;
- 1 teaspoon medium fine white pepper;
- 1 teaspoon safflower oil;
- Sea salt.
For wasabi with soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Japanese wasabi powder, can be substitute with wasabi paste;
- 1 teaspoon water to wasabi powder, none to wasabi paste;
- 1 tablespoon Liquid Aminos (a healthier version of soy sauce can be find in health food store or upscale market) or soy sauce.
For wasabi sauce with mayonnaise
- Substitute soy sauce with 1 tablespoon mayonnaise.

Serving for 2 as appetizer
For flank steak
- Clean the flank steak, pat dry;
- Salt the flank steak;
- Cover the flank steak with black and white pepper;
- Add safflower oil to a sauté pan over medium high heat;
- Place the flank steak in, sear each side for 4 minutes;
- Take out the flank steak, rest for 5-10 minutes before cutting into 1/4” slide at a 30˚ angle,
- Serve warm with sauce of your choice.
For wasabi sauce
- Mix wasabi and water to a paste consistency;
- Add Liquid Aminos or mayonnaise;
- Mix well.
